Beleaguered Beagle

Old man Fred he did something illegal:
He went and stole his neighbor's beagle,
Then he done turned the dog into a seagull.
Now his neighbor's MAD!

That neighbor did not like his seagull;
He wanted back his beloved beagle.
He hit Fred with a judgement legal:
Now Fred's wallet's SAD!

I dunno why Evangelina found this nonsense poem so hilarious as we made it up on the way to Wintersburg Church to send her off to camp. The fourth line of what turned out to be the first stanza was created as a cop-out nonsensical poetic "punchline" since I couldn't think of another fitting word that rhymes with beagle. It turns out we could pair the entire stanza with the one that followed in order to "round out" the rhyming scheme of the entire poem.

Perhaps what made it especially hilarious to Evangelina were the silly drumbeats "pum-putta-pum-pum…" we would added after each line. She insisted that we save this on her blog…

Unto her heavenly Father

He has healed the sick

Yet God had him picked

To be impaled on the cross for me

He took those nails

Cuz' his love never failed

Yet he was cursed & mocked by me

Erasing my sin and conquering death

Providing me with my every breath

My cup is overflowing forever

Ashamed of myself

I repented & now
I willingly choose to follow him

He rose again in three days

To him I pour out all my praise

Saving me from drowning in the darkness

In order to avoid outdoor contaminants in the air, we have been running our indoor air purifiers 24-7 and the models we have seem to be quite effective, especially as they feature a color-coded pollution meter at its intake duct: blue for clean, red for dirty, and orange for in-between. We all got a big laugh when the purifier next to Evangelina turned RED after she farted about ten minutes ago, and only just now converted from orange to blue again!

Love Peck

Today I saw something I can ever remember seeing before: Evangelina kissed Jadon on the cheek while he was showing her how to play something at the piano for her Certificate of Merit test. The kiss made me quite happy, perhaps because my sister and I grew up hugging and kissing each other on the cheek (until Ruthie hit puberty I guess). Very sweet seeing siblings care for each other.
